Product Review: Sanyo HEC-SR1000K Massage Chair Recliner
Sanyo has a full range of massage chairs in their product line. We are going to take an in depth view of the entry level model for Sanyo. The model SR 1000K is the subject of this product review. Our reviews are systematic and we judge any massage chair is five critical areas. We give a point rating of up to twenty points per area for a total possible score of 100. This is the SR-1000K massage chair recliner by Sanyo.
Warranty Coverage & Customer Service: We start with the warranty coverage because this is your long term protection. Massage chairs are complex machines and obtaining sufficient warranty coverage is always advised. Sanyo covers the SR-1000K recliner with the following warranty: You get 3 years coverage for the roller mechanism, 1 year labor coverage, 1 year parts coverage and 1 year in home service coverage. This is a great warranty for an entry level massage chair. Sanyo also has moved to a national call center which has also improved customer service. We rate the warranty coverage and customer service a 19.
Comfort & Ergonomics: This is an important element, especially for entry level massage chairs. We have tried many entry level chairs that were not comfortable which defeats the purpose of a massage chair. The SR1000K is pretty comfortable to sit in. It has an adjustable head pillow and a plush back pad. The main power button is located on the left side of the chair and can be reached when seated. The leg massager requires you to bend down to flip the foot massage mechanism out. This is the least ergonomic part of the massage recliner. We rate the comfort and ergonomics of the SR 1000 as a 17.
Ease of Use: With so many features being added to today’s massage chairs, we find some remote controls overly complex. This can be very frustrating to new users. The chair should be simple to use and intuitive to understand. The Sanyo SR-1000 comes with an advanced remote that has many features. It does take some time to get accustomed to it as a series of buttons may be required to get it to do what you want. We do like the light level indicators which helps you see the intensities. We give the ease of use a 16.
Key Features: This massage chair comes with the Sanyo stiffness detector. The stiffness detector uses technology borrowed from lie detectors. The stiffness detector in the SR 1000 can sense tightness in the muscles of the body and other points of stress. The user holds the side of the remote and the chair can detect these areas of stiffness. The chair will then target these areas for relief. The other interesting feature is the shape sensor. The shape sensor takes a measurement of the position of the shoulders. The chair then identifies where the shoulders are at and adjusts the massage accordingly. The rollers width will then become less when it gets to your shoulders and for your neck area. These are some advanced electronic features that are unique to Sanyo. We give a rating of 18 for key features.
Massage Therapy: The SR-1000 comes with automatic and manual massage techniques. The automatic massages are named Recovery and Relax. Relax is a soothing type massage and Recovery is more vigorous for after more strenuous activity. The manual massages come with 3 massage techniques but also have two stretching capabilities. The stretching can be used in combination with the 3 massage techniques. The leg rest is capable to massage both the calves and the feet providing virtually a full body massage capability. The SR1000 earns a 17 for its massage therapy.
So how does the Sanyo SR1000K rate overall? In our review it gets an 87/100 points. We like the warranty and that gives you confidence that it will last. The electronic features are interesting, but they seem to be at the expense of more massage treatments. There are only 2 automatic programs, which seem a bit light compared to other massage chairs. The look of the chair is a little different, because the main power is located on the side. The aesthetics are nice otherwise. This is an interesting massage chair and is worth checking out.

Product Review of Sanyo SR-1000 Massage Chair
The following is a product review and evaluation of the Sanyo HEC-SR1000K massage chair recliner. This is the entry level massage chair model for Sanyo. We will present the salient features, functions and warranty coverage available for this massage chair. Let us take an in depth look at the Sanyo SR1000K massage chair recliner.
With all massage chairs, make sure that you check out the warranty coverage. There is substantial variation between models of the same manufacturer and also between manufacturers. Let us focus on the warranty of the DR 6700. The roller mechanism is covered for a three year period. This is what massages the back and the mechanics are contained in the chair back. The parts and labor are covered for one year each. There is also in home repair available and that is picked up by Sanyo for the first year.
There are two automatic programs designed in the SR 1000K massage chair. The first program is called Relax and as the name implies, it provides a softer, soothing massage. The second program is named Recovery and it is more like a warm down type of massage. Both of these auto-programs work with the touch of one button.
Sanyo has incorporated a stiffness detector in the SR-1000K. The stiffness detector senses tight muscles in the body. It uses technology similar to a lie detector and knows where stress is being detected. The sensor works by you holding the sensor in your hand. The sensor then feeds that data to the computer which then directs the massage to concentrate on the stiff areas detected.
There are manual massage methods also built into the programming of the massage chair. These manual massages use one type of technique once selected. However, you can compliment the manual massage technique with 2 variations of leg stretches. Just select the type of stretch you would like and the SR 1000 will add it as part of the manual program as it is running.
The SR1000K also comes with a unique leg rest massager. The leg rest can be used to target the following areas: calves, back of the knees, sole of the foot and the Achilles tendon/heal. The leg rest contains a roller mechanism that massages the calves and the back of the knees. You can flip down the unit and then put your feet on it. This allows you to target the soles of your feet for a nice soothing massage. You can vary the speed of the massage and also the direction of the rollers.
The remote control is corded to the massage chair. It has a nice gradient light structure that shows you the intensity setting of the massage and also the roller with of the roller mechanism. The remote is well laid out and is fairly simple to use for even first time users of the massage chair.
The Sanyo line starts with the SR-1000K massage recliner. It has some of the same features as the higher products in the line. However, it has a completely different look than the other Sanyo massage chairs. The leg rest is also unique to the SR 1000. The massage therapy is pretty effective. The foot portion of the leg rest can be hidden from view which saves space and makes it more attractive. The warranty is very good for this level of massage chair as well. Overall, the SR1000K is a pretty solid value for an entry massage chair recliner.

Review of the Omega M5000DLX Massage Chair
The M5000 DLX massage chair is made by Omega Massage. Omega is known for its striking designs, advanced technology and effective massage therapy. We will take a look at the M-5000 and rate it is five separate categories including warranty, ease of use, ergonomics, key features and massage therapy. Here is our evaluation of the M 5000 DLX from Omega Massage.
Warranty Coverage & Customer Service: With any product that incorporates both electrical and mechanical features, you want to make sure that you get an adequate warranty. Even the best of brands are assembled by Humans and mistakes can occur. Warranty coverage is your long term protection from defects in material or workmanship. The Omega M-5000 comes with the following warranty coverage: 5 years protection on the frame or structure of the chair; 3 years coverage on parts and labor; 1 year parts shipping; 90 days in home technician service. By industry standards, this is the best warranty coverage available on a massage chair in this class. On the service side, Omega has an excellent track record. We give the M5000 a 19.
Comfort & Ergonomics: This is a vitally important category for your long term comfort needs. For you to relax, a massage chair needs to fit the body, so you are comfortable. The design of the chair needs to facilitate that all controls are easily accessed. The DLX is well designed from this perspective. The seat is plush as well as the back pad. There are a series of pads for the back. There is a removable back pad, the main back pad, a neck pad and a head pillow. These are adjustable to suit your needs. All of the functions of the chair can be operated from the main remote. There is a hidden panel in the middle of the slim controller for manual operations and for the music controls. We rate the DLX an 18 for comfort and ergonomics.
Ease of Use: One excellent trend with massage chairs is the number of new functions that are being integrated. The flip side of this is how easy or complicated is the chair to use? The M5000DLX comes with many advanced features such as an MP3 music player. The remote control allows for control of all the functions of the massage chair. The remote has automatic programs with large buttons. You can open the panel in the middle of the controller for the manual controls. These controls allow you to select the type of massage and the area to be massaged. These are well laid out and simple to understand and use. The M 5000 earns an 18.
Key Features: The M5000 has one of the best neck and shoulder massages. This automatic program is thorough and invigorating. The programming of the massage hits all the right points and provides deeper penetration. An extra pad is included to soften the massage for those that want it softer. This is certainly one of the best massage programs we have tried. Another important feature of the LDX is one for relaxing. The M-5000 has an MP3 player. The massage chair comes with a USB stick that you can load up with MP3 compatible music. Slip on the headphones and let the DLX take you to higher states of relaxation than you thought possible. We give the M5000 an 18 for features.
Massage Therapy: Of course, massage therapy is what a massage chair is all about. Here is the run down with the DLX: 5 automatic programs, 4 manual massages, and 4 manual massage back courses. The back courses target the full back, neck and shoulders and lower back. The manual massage functions include finger press, kneading, tapping and combination kneading/tapping. You can adjust the manual massages to 3 levels of intensity. You also get an air massage system for the lower body. The lower body air massage targets the buttocks, thighs, calves and feet. The air compression can be set at either firm or gentle. The airbags have reflexology nodes that provide total body relaxation. We give the DLX an 18 for massage therapy.
The Omega M-5000 DLX is a striking massage chair and we believe it was the first to incorporate wood armrests for a nice designer touch. The warranty coverage is the best of its kind in this price range. The foot reflexology massage is excellent relief for those who enjoy a good foot massage. The automatic massage programs are penetrating, comprehensive and thorough. If you have back, shoulder or neck issues, this massage chair provide excellent relief. Throw in the MP3 music player and you have a relaxation machine that will provide you years of relieving massage therapy. The M5000DLX is an outstanding massage chair recliner and rates overall a 91/100.
