The Usages of Blu Ray Disk that You Need to See

without comments

The entertainment industry in the latest century has given the world some of the biggest evolutions. Starting from the CD and moving forward with the DVD, entertainment has actually come to its customers door step. Latest blockbuster movies could be watched at the comfort of their homes mainly because with DVD’s came the DVD player. These high-tech equipments had unmatched picture quality with high audio and video resolution.

After the DVD was engulfed by the world, next came the Blue ray disk with more features. The Blu ray disk has taken the optical disc technology to a higher level as it is mainly used for high-definition data and video storage. Another dissimilarity between a DVD and a Blu ray disk is that a DVD uses a red laser, whereas the Blu ray disk uses a blue laser. The name ‘Blu ray’ was a result of the laser color that was used in the disk.

The Blu ray disk was developed by the Blu ray disk association; a group consisting of some of the highly known names in the consumer electronic trade. Some of them include renowned names such as Sony, Hitachi, Philips, Samsung, Panasonic, Hewlett Packard (HP), etc. A Blu ray disk is used for recording, rewriting and the playback of high definition video.

When talking about advantages, one of the major advantages a Blu ray disk has over a standard DVD is the high storage capacity. A single-layer Blu ray disk has a storage capacity of 25GB and the dual-layer Blu ray disk can store up to 50GB. A Blue ray disk has advanced audio and video codes, enabling a person can have the ultimate high-definition video viewing experience.

A Blu ray disk, also known as a BD has storage capacity around five times higher than a traditional DVD. A Blu ray disk can store around 9 hours of high-definition video and 23 hours of standard-definition video on a 50GB disk. Another advantage of the Blu ray disk is that the blue-violet laser in it has a shorter wavelength, hence enabling it to focus on a disc area with greater precision. Although the looks of a CD and a Blu ray disk may seem the same, the storage capacities differ a lot.

The major disadvantage is that sometimes standard DVD players are unable to recognize the format in these disks. Luckily this problem is being rectified by many consumer electronic manufacturers making sure they release backward compatible players. Many of the CD’s and DVD’s can be used in a player which is compatible with Blu ray disks and DVD’s.

Blue Ray Drives: Must be Able to Read the Traditional of CDs and DVDs

without comments

It seems like each year there is some new advancement made and the technology keeps improving day by day. Currently the biggest evolution is the Blue ray technology. But before talking about that, it is better to learn more about the Blue ray disk and Blue ray drives. The Blue ray disk is very much different from a normal DVD and consists of a ferromagnetic material that is sealed with a plastic coating. There are different kinds of optical disk drives in the market but the most recent one’s to have captured the consumer electronic market are the Blue ray drives.

A single-layer Blue ray disk can store around 25GB and a dual-layer disk can store 50GB. This storage space is way higher than a normal DVD. Blue ray drives are needed to read and write data on to a Blue ray disk.

The way the Blue ray drives work is quite fascinating. The Blue ray drives have a laser inside it. The computer can actually read and write data on to a Blue ray disk because of this laser. During the whole disk reading process, a laser beam is projected on the disk. This reflects a light. The light changes according to the different effects of the magneto-optical Kerr.

The BDA, also known as the Blue ray Disk Association consist of some of the well known consumer electronic giants. According to them almost all Blue ray drives should be capable of reading the traditional type of DVD’s and CD’s. This is known as backward compatibility.

Although many consumers still use the standard DVD’s and CD’s to watch movies and listen to songs, the Blue ray disk format has gained more popularity over time. Blue ray disks come with more storage space and higher quality than a normal DVD, making it more useful for people who want to get a cinematic experience right at their home.

In the early days where the Blue ray technology was at its initial stage, a few manufacturers used to make products that had Blue ray DVD players and Blue ray drives which could play only DVD’s and not CD’s. But today, the new advancements have changed the Blue ray drives making it possible for the backward compatibility.

Having a high storage space compared to other disks is one of the biggest advantages the Blue ray disk has. Due to the increase of sales, manufacturers of desktop computers and laptops have incorporated Blue ray drives into them. Many computer systems are now being shipped with the Blue ray drives installed in them. The Sony Playstation-3 also has a Blue ray drive that’s built-in.

For manufacturers of traditional DVD’s and CD’s, the Blue ray disk has come up as a major competitor, enveloping most of its customers. After all who wouldn’t want a disk that has extra storage capacity and works wonders?

This article is written by the author to give you some reviews before buying blue ray drives you are looking for. One such confusion occurred with the arrival of the blue ray DVD. We were always familiar with the traditional type of DVD, so what exactly is this blue ray DVD to hit the market?

A blue ray DVD can be played using a blue ray DVD player and nothing else. You may wonder why this is the case especially when CD’s, VCD’s, etc can be played on a normal DVD player. Well, the difference lies in the laser that’s being used to read the data on the disc. The normal DVD player uses a read laser, but the blue ray DVD player uses a blue laser to read the discs.

The BDA, also known as the blue ray disc association comprises of some of the leading giants in the consumer electronic trade including Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, etc. Once Sony opened doors to the world of blue ray technology, notable names such as Toshiba, etc followed them by manufacturing products using this new technology.

A main advantage of the new blue ray dvd is its storage capacity. It can store up to five times the storage capacity of a normal dvd. a single layer dvd can store up to 25 GB while a dual layer dvd can store up to 50 GB in any kind of data. This could prove to be absolutely brilliant for a person who needs a small but handy way to store large volumes of data. Like a researcher.

Another quality of the blue ray dvd is its use of improved and advance audio and video codecs. High definition movies can easily and impressively fit into one of these blur ray dvd’s. The viewer can store and watch more than twenty high definition movies using a single blue ray dvd. It all uses java software support.

Digital rights management is another aspect of security it gives to producers and users of blue ray dvd’s. The regional codes that are also available in discs may give more control to whole sale producers of blue ray dvd’s such as motion picture companies. It may help in market segmentation and also help companies to produce in accordance with regional values and beliefs.

Also there are many variations when it comes to blue ray dvd’s, such as mini blue ray dvd, blue ray dvd recordable, BD5 and BD 9 and also a variation called avcrec. Get The Best Movie Quality With HD DVDs

without comments

I like blu-ray movies a lot. With them you get the best picture quality. HD is the way of the future. After watching blu-ray I can’t even watch regular DVDs anymore. I watched Forgetting Sarah Marshal the other day on blu-ray in my home theater and it wasn’t even close to watching it on regular DVDs. And it is not just the picture quality that is better, the sound is incomparable. There is not enough that can be said about how wonderful these blu-ray discs are.

I bought a high def TV, and when I view normal TV programming or even DVD movies it seems like a waste of my time. I do not even think it’s a good way to spend my time really. I’d rather be reading or something like that as opposed to watching poor definition television. There are HD channels available, so that makes it better, but still I wish everything looked like blu-ray DVDs.

A lot of people have been put off blu-ray because they feel it’s too expensive. Yeah sure you pay a little more, but the quality is so worth it. They aren’t really overly costly. You can buy blu ray movies online if you look for them. In reality they don’t cost all that much. One thing that can be said for sure is that they are worth the cost. Even if the cost was $75 each I’d still probably buy them. As opposed to really looking at price, I’d rather consider the quality.

Considering how far tech has come in such a short time I can’t imagine where it will be in another 20 or even 40 years. I suppose thinking about that stuff to much is useless. I’ll just talk about the here and now. This is my reasoning why I don’t understand why people don’t pay the little more for the quality buy blu-ray players. I can concede they can cost a pretty penny, but the are worth it for sure. Without mine I’d go crazy… not to sound crazy.
